Elle King Pittsburgh reviews
Poor sound mix and unmemorable performance
The opening band, red clay strays were fantastic and sounded great. Unfortunately Elle King’s sound mix was such it was very difficult to hear her vocals. Aside from 2 audience members on the floor passing out after the halfway point, the show was uninteresting. The band members had their own risers or pre-determined areas and did not interact with each other and Elle for the most part was static on her area. We have seen her before and this was not the performance we expected. Hopefully it was just and “off” night. But the sound mix really ruined the show for us.
Ok, but misleading
Firstly, please understand we paid a significant more for the meet and greet vip experience. The details said an intimate acoustic performance with a meet and greet and photo opportunity. She came out late, played two quick acoustic songs, answered a few questions from a sheet and then we were rushed up to the stage randomly by wrist band colors to take a group picture although that wasn’t really clear until our pictures were done, so the pictures all show the majority of people scrambling around. Her show was good but the venues sound on the floor needed tweaking, couldn’t hear the vocals at all for her or the opener. Her music is energetic so I was hoping for a little more energy from her show and that was lacking too I felt.
Best concert ever
I purchased the VIP package and it was so worth it! Elle’s meet/greet was so honest, personal and genuine. Before the opening band came on, we answered an Elle King trivia question and won tickets for Dawes next month!!!
During the concert, someone fainted. Elle stopped singing, jumped off stage and tended to the person!! Elle was so shaken afterwards, which shows how much Elle cares about EVERYONE!!
Even though Elle was shaken, her performance was still great!! This was my 3rd time seeing Elle King and it was by far the best!
It was our first time at the Moody Theater!!! The venue was so intimate and had amazing audio quality!!
See ya again next month!!!
Not too happy
I love her music and her style. I think she is great. But I did not like the venue. There were two people standing up and dancing and what not, 7-8 rows down and they totally blocked 50% of the middle of the stage, where Elle King performed mostly. We weren't able to see her. I blame it on poor layout of the venu, after all the hotel/casino was built in 1969. There wasn't much difference in level between those rows and us. I complained to the boss, forgot his name unfortunately. He told me there was nothing he could do. The dancing duo was seated at the moment so I went back to my seat and hoped they would be considerate to the audience behind them like the remaining 98% of the audience were. But that only lasted for about 5 minutes then they were up again. Again I went to voice my opinion about these two people and about the venue to the boss, who didn't do anything.Asked me if I had talked to the ticket people, which I of course hadn't since he told me they wouldn't be able to do anything. On the other hand, another black clad security guard took us up to the balcony and we got great seats! Thank you black clad, blond, handsome security guard!!!
